So, first of all, inside the Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless box, we are presented with another box and then a case. It is a really nice case with a very nice presentation. We can see a nice hard carry case, especially for travel.

When we unzip the case, we are presented with our headset. Then there is a magnetic little pocket. They also come with an additional USB-A to USB-C and a USB-A extender inside that magnetic little pocket as well. It’s just nice to have some extra cable accessories.
The little USB-C dongle has Razer hyper speed which is at 2.4 gigahertz for ultra-low latency. So, it’s great when it is plugged into the pc for gaming, and more importantly, this actually works with the Nintendo Switch. It’s a simple little plug-and-play. So, we can listen to the sounds of the switch with the USB-C dongle and switch this between devices easily.

Razer Barracuda Pro: Design
The design of the Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless looks it’s very simplified. It’s a blend between aesthetic gaming and lifestyle. So, this wireless gaming headset will look great in the crowd without a problem while we are traveling. The headset size is slightly larger than the Opus or the original Barracuda X.

But the best thing is it is still lightweight enough not to be a nuisance. Even though it’s 330 grams it doesn’t feel like it on our head. It still feels very well supported not just on the ear cups but on the headband as well. Because this gaming headset is majority plastic.
The ear cups, forks, and the arm of the headband are made of plastic. We do have a metal-reinforced headband. But everything else is plastic. So again, it will not feel cumbersome. These plastics feel solid as well. It not really getting any weak points when we stretch it out which is manageable. We can twist it up as well without really getting worried. Because again it’s so flexible and just moldable.

These ear pads have plenty deep and plenty wide. So, our ears will not touch the ear pads. All inside the ear pads are actually memory foam. So, it’s nice and padded. The one thing about these ear pads as jumbo as they are incredibly soft. This means if we slightly touch the ear pads, it is down to the frame.

When we come up to the headband it’s kind of the opposite it’s like a traditional pleather up there. But it’s having a good density that we are really used to on-ear cushions. When we put this gaming headset on our heads, it feels very comfortable like a pillow. So, we can play longer gaming sessions without an issue.
Then you do have a full swivel. It is going all the way flat a little bit forward ear pad in and out as well. As far as our adjustment of the headband has nice clicky adjustments. So, it does hold its position so well. They work very well with glasses and it’s definitely one of the more comfortable pairs in the wireless headset market. They also have slightly less clamping force versus the Barracuda and the Barracuda X.

Let’s talk controls of this Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless. On the left ear cup, we have our mic mute button that can in and out. Then we have our continuously rolling volume wheel with little tactile steps on there.
We have the power button and multi-function as far as in call single press double press all that play, pause, and skip. Below we got your USB-C charging port which we get up to 40 hours of battery life with this headset.

Below that we have your multi-switch. It can pair up your Bluetooth and we can also double press it to go to Bluetooth or then to 2.5 wireless connection back and forth. It also tells you in the headset which one you’re on. So, Bluetooth is not simultaneous.
On top of it all that same button we’re recycling our Bluetooth and our wireless right there it can also be used as your active noise cancellation. We got active noise cancellation then you got ambient and off like. So, ambient is we can hear the stuff around us.

Razer Barracuda Pro: Features
When it comes to the features of the Barracuda Pro first of all it remembers our ANC settings after a power off. This means when we power on it remembers that previous setting cycle. The ambient mode is also great and simulates an open-back feel every time.
The power LED right beside the power button is far away. So, when we do cover up the power button, we can still see the LED. The wireless range on this Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless is truly impressive. It is by far the best wireless headset in the headset market in terms of range without destroying the signal quality. It still is great with several walls in between and having absolutely no dropouts or any crackles or interference.

Razer made it extremely simple to switch between different modes. So, with a double tap, we can switch between 2.4 gigahertz HyperSpeed wireless or Bluetooth mode. We also can go back to our Bluetooth setting with a single press. We can cycle between the three different ANC modes. That is on, off, for ambient. all of which have audio cues when you enable them, so we know exactly where we are.
Bluetooth and wireless cannot be used simultaneously. So, if we have got our game on some headsets, we can have the headset on get our phone here still get a call and maybe lower the game volume a little bit and still hear that in the background or have music in the background. But we can’t do that with this headset. It’s either all Bluetooth or all wireless.

Razer Barracuda Pro: Active Noise Canceling
The Active Noise Canceling of the Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless does have a specific use case in certain situations. So, for example, ANC is not necessarily needed here because the passive isolation of these ear cups is already very good.
But ANC adds a slight dimension to that muteness that like mutes the background. Even further therefore it allows us to listen to music or audio or gaming at a slightly lower volume without being totally distracted by our outside environment.

It allows us to slightly lower the volume of the headset turn on ANC and be totally confident that what we are hearing is all game volume and not anything from our environment. The biggest advantage is when we are on the go it helps to mute the world. It slightly removes some of the humming in the background from the highway stuff and it’s not that aggressive as well.
We have 10 levels of ANC to play around with either through the Razer Synapse or the Razer audio app. Anything above 7 introduces white noise and hiss. Anything below 7 started to reintroduce some of the background elements that get canceled out. So, we can keep it 5 or 7 or keep it off.

Razer Barracuda Pro: Microphone
The best thing about this microphone is there’s nothing to attach or pull out or anything. They’re just built into the headset kind of like what we see in a lot of headphones. So, when it comes to microphone quality, this integrated microphone is the best in class.
But it does not compete with dedicated boom arms. Because we are talking forward, and our microphones of this gaming headset are back. So, it’s got to pick up around it. So, it sounds like it’s coming from the ear cup. The sound of the microphone is a little bit distant. But it does have noise cancellation built in as well.
But our voice is still to be clear, and we can use it perfectly for gaming. People can hear us clearly in the game and even we can do live streams or even teams calls on the computer. So, we can use this built-in microphone without an issue. Because it is great when we take a call, when we are on the go, or we are not sitting with the computer, and when we are on our phone, we can use these headset’s microphones which other gaming headsets have struggled with.

When we come to the Razer app, we can see all the information about the headset there. We have battery life, and active noise cancellation right up which we got on and off ambient mode named do not disturb. We also got an equalizer which we get our custom EQ and then all your presets.

Then we got gaming mode and mic noise cancellation. Its default setting is on low and if we turn it off active noise cancellation is off. Finally, we got the quick connect and our settings with just some information about the headset.
If we are on pc and we are plugged in by the dongle, we got control via the Razer software and we can adjust it while you’re connected by the dongle. But again if we are on the go and we are using it wirelessly say even on a console and we have to adjust our eq and stuff we got to go back into that Bluetooth. Active noise canceling surprisingly does not change the sound profile. It just mutes out the background noise. That’s why it’s so minor ANC. Because they don’t want to completely bash the audio fidelity of what’s coming in. So, there’s a lot of clarity in the fantastic bass region. The high-end is smooth and overall, there’s a lot of power without giving us a great sound quality experience.
It is one of the better wireless-sounding gaming headsets and it’s even better than the original Barracuda and the Barracuda X for sure. Even though they are using slightly different sound drivers which means the same drivers with slightly different tuning. But we can hear the difference for sure.

Overall, Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless is a solid pair of headsets. We can use them not only for gaming but also for active noise canceling, and editing, and use them for even working out. This wireless gaming headset will compete really well with other ANC lifestyle headphones like the Sony WH Mark 5.
The Barracuda Pros are a hundred dollars less or even the Airpod Maxes that cost $550. Even they’re outrageously expensive and unless you are in the Apple ecosystem those can’t even switch between multiple devices let alone go anywhere near gaming.
