Corsair Void RGB Elite with a headphone stand
corsair.com

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless is a new wireless gaming headset on the Void lineup that was released on October 10th, 2019 from the Corsair brand with some new upgrades for instance. It does have new drivers; the microphone is a bit different, the wireless version works straight out of the box with PlayStation 4 and then the sound quality is the major improvement with the Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless. So I decide the starting off with the sound quality first because of this improvement.

With Corsair Void, we do have a few different models in different colors. We can go for firstly the wireless model with RGB. But we do also get the USB model with RGB and then standard 3.5 a stereo without RGB lights. There are a few different colors: D carbon white and orange Edition. When it comes to pricing wise the new Elite so pretty much the exact same price at $89.99 for the stereo and the USB and then $100 for the wireless model. First of all, let’s see the specifications and Pros and Cons of this gaming headset.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: Sound Quality

This wireless gaming headset is using Corsair’s new 50-millimeter neodymium drivers that do have a new frequency range of from 20 Hertz to 30 kilohertz. The sound quality is very clear and also the stereo surround is really good in games. It was also really good at delivering enough punch and it is pretty loud so that’s what the frequency you arrange is. It’s a lot more neutral I didn’t find that any frequency range was actually above any of the others, or anything was pushed back.

The highs are nice and crisp. So, we can really hear those crispy gunshots and then also for the low, they are nice and deep. The frequency response feels balanced with decent bass and accurate audio reproduction. It’s not as thumping bass, but we do have a nice deep feel with that. The mid sounded quite consistent and the treble range also sounded very good.

corsair.com

We can also enable virtual 7.1 inside the IQ software if you wanted to and it’s nice for games. But we don’t really need that if you don’t like it. Because some gamers don’t like to turn on surround sounds when they are playing games. But this special surround with this headset is already really good. So finally, we can say the sound quality of this headset is really good and it was very good for this price range.

As far as music listening goes these are going to be ok for casual listening. There are no special EQ presets that deliver the goods for music. The trick is to get a decent amount of bass while still having some sort of high-end to help cut through that. So, the bass boost preset doesn’t really hit, and it sounds muffled on the high end. This preset is also really not nails it, but it’s the best I could get for music.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: Gaming

The sound quality for gaming is actually pretty solid. The soundstage feels good and the details in the gaming world feel great. The simulated 7.1 surround sound on offer here is Dolby headphones. It isn’t a game changer, but it does make the world feel a bit bigger and it certainly didn’t hurt directional awareness even in modern games. the Void Pro got knocked a little bit for being bass-light these are actually a little false bass-heavy.

corsair.com

They don’t get a lot of external noise and do seem to have quite a bit of leakage, but for gaming at home, this isn’t much of an issue. The low end of bass is responsible for making distant explosions sound pretty great. It wasn’t the greatest in a gaming headset, but it still remains fully immersed. The smaller details in background music in-game vocals leave the instruments on game effects were just a bit lackluster.

We can try the FPS shooter preset if there’s something specific trying to pick out in the game like footsteps and it is also highlighted background explosions, whistling bullets, vehicle sounds screams of people and soldiers as well. One big thing we can notice with this gaming headset is that there’s no background hiss when there’s audio playing. We can barely tell they’re even on until something starts playing. So, we can play games without an issue with a wireless range connection, and this headset performs well.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: Design

When we are looking into the design of the headset it is pretty much exactly like the previous Void Pro. So, the Design of the Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless with the sharp angles, the D-shaped ear cups, and even the position of the microphone all make this headset look like it’s ready for the ESports stage which also we do have some people that really do like the Void Pros, and this is mostly aimed at them.

corsair.com

Then just like the previous Corsair Void gaming headsets, we can adjust the headband for larger and smaller sizes with 10 adjustment markings on either side of the headband for indicators as well. The plastic on the headband feels pretty legit. So it is nice enough flexible that it will be able to bend to fit on our head even if you do have a watermelon-sized big head. There is also minimal Corsair branding on the headband itself as well.

Overall, the construction on this Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless headset is really great. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to break suddenly, and it can handle fewer drops. So, the build quality is solid here mostly plastic to conserve weight but metal where they need to be specifically the aluminum alloy hinges and the metal inserts inside the slides where the hinges connect. But we can find that the ear cups swivel is still a bit too loose, and it’ll automatically swivel around. But it’s not a deal-breaker.

corsair.com

The ear cups are pretty tough and feel as though they could withstand some rough handling. The exterior of the ear cups is gloss plastic and trimmed in matte plastic which looks excellent. Out of the box and really lets the Corsair sales logo shine bright with RGB lights. However, it is a fingerprint trap. So, we can change that inside the IQ software if you wanted to and it will of course drain battery life on the wireless versions.

We also could disable it if you wanted to. We do have a bunch of effects that we can apply as well. There is a volume control as a knob at the back off at the left of the ear cup. It’s not on seeing a wheel it’s more like a knob that you swipe up and down and it’s honestly not too bad. Then we do get the power button and the microphone mute button still on the left ear cup.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: Comfort

Moving on there to comfort we know usually Corsair Void gaming headsets are comfortable among gaming headsets. So overall, they are really good and the same goes for this wireless gaming headset. so first of all, the headband padding still gets very soft with a very low-density mushy memory foam cloth padding which does spread nicely over the head to reduce the weight. it’s pretty good.

Then the ear cups padding is also getting the cloth memory foam padding that same that we get on the Corsair Void Pros. It is also very comfortable and has no issues wearing these headsets for a long period of gaming. Because there is cloth and they do breathe quite a nice. for the ear cups, we get a unique shape that actually fits really nicely over the ears.

corsair.com

It fits even big ears nicely so if you are finding a comfortable headset for big ears this headset is the best recommendation. It did touch the side of the ear pad, but it wasn’t an issue. It was very comfortable and even with my ear scratching against the driver’s wall. The cloth near the drivers also come with a nice cloth material there which are you really comfortable.

The ear cups have around 10 degrees of tilt kicking for different sizes and shaped heads and swivel 90 degrees rotation features. So, the headset can be worn very comfortably on the shoulders while we are resting with a weight of around 390 grams. They’re not super light but they are insanely comfortable as a wireless gaming headset. So, this is one of the most comfortable wireless gaming headsets on the gaming headset market.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: Controls

The right ear cup has nothing controlled. The left cup contains the mini-USB charging port, connection indicator LED, and multifunction control which is in other words programmable button. So, it is a clever design it is a rocket-style wheel.

corsair.com

This is going to control volume as well as toggle Dolby 7.1 surround sound on and off when we hold the port in for two seconds and even move between your EQ presets. The same stock presets we can see on the Corsair Void, and we can free to make our own presets with the software as well.

We can have as many as you want but the hardware will only toggle between our top 5. On the outside of the ear cup, we have also got a power button and a mic mute button which is pressing it will bring a red LED off on the microphone to give you a visual indication but there is also an audible notification to which you can turn off in the software. When long-pressed will also toggle between side tones on and off which is the ability to hear yourself while you are wearing your own headphones.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: Connectivity

First of all, when we come to the wireless connection the wireless USB dongle is quite a bit larger than their slipstream and it is a lot thinner. The low-latency 2.4GHz Wireless connection has a range of around 40 feet. So, we were able to get around just outside the house even between the two walls and we’re still able to pick up the wireless connection. The Corsair Void RGB Elite has up to 16 hours of battery life to use this wireless connection without RGB lighting.

corsair.com

It has 12 hours of battery life with RGB lighting on. There is a disadvantage position when we have to charge and play, and we can’t do that. Instead of that, we are going to have to connect your wireless dongle to the PC and we have to be connected via a USB at the same time. Now the positive thing is that the cable is plenty long enough for us to do that.

And again, the downside obviously is it we have to be occupying two ports on our PC to charge and play. Lastly, there’s no 3.5-millimeter aux port so we can’t connect to PlayStation 4 wirelessly unfortunately in stereo mode only. We are also not going to be able to use 7.1 surround sound on the Nintendo Switch or an Xbox controller or even a mobile phone. But we can connect these consoles and mobile phones via Bluetooth.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: Microphone

When we come to the microphone comes with a boom-long rubber arm with a more robust plastic that going to go up and down with the red-light lining instead of being detachable. When it is actually down it is unmuted when it’s up it’s muted and the red LED will light up when it is muted. When if it is at the bottom, you can also press the mute button to mute it. So, we do have the option for that as well. This microphone is a bit too big compared with other microphones of gaming headsets.

corsair.com

We can deactivate the voice prompts inside IQ software. But this Microphone also has a little tone that goes off when you adjust it. The thing about this mic is it has like 10 degrees of rotation from the top before it goes unmuted. That means that all the way up 10 degrees of rotation from the top the microphone is still unmuted and we really have to make sure this microphone is all the way up to muted or we have to rely on the manual mic mute button.

Overall quality this microphone is passable for a gaming microphone. It’s not super clear when we speak. The levels of the sounds on this microphone are also really low. But fortunately, the boom arm of the microphone is flexible so we can get it a little closer to the mouth to help out with the levels. It is also omnidirectional with a frequency response of 100 Hertz to 10 kilohertz as well.

One positive thing about this microphone is that it really gets very little artificial. It also picks up all of the noise and then just cuts it out as well. So, there is a noise gate with the Microphone. There is a windscreen that comes with the headset box for the microphone. So finally, we can say with the price range this microphone of the Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless is passable for a gaming microphone.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless: IQ Utility Engine

IQ utility engine has a lot of options for all your Corsair peripherals and components. We get access to a decent graphic EQ and we can alter the volume of the microphone in there as well. we can play around with the various RGB options for the ear cups.

corsair.com

For example, alter the speed at which they flash, blink, or whatever dizzying effect you choose that you want to put on this headset. it’s worth this IQ utility software and it doesn’t work with Macs. So, the IQ utility engine is going to be limited strictly to PC and PlayStation 4 only.

Verdict

There’s not a lot of competition out there for wireless at the 99-dollar mark. Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless is still one of the base gaming headsets in the $100 price range with the new Elite upgrade. The sound quality is brilliant and solid for gaming out of this headset, especially for this price range and also, and it’s pretty comfortable. We have access to pretty much every control we would need right there on the headset. So finally we can say in the summary of this headset review there is 4 main quality that every user will like, Those 4 qualities are,

  • Sound Quality with the new upgrade drivers,
  • The durable build quality fits any head size,
  • Super comfortability of the ear cups and headband,
  • Low-latency 2.4GHz Wireless connectivity with 40 feet range.
