But it has been a classic in the gaming headset market for a long time now and still offers a solid performance for gaming. So that gaming headset is still a decent option for gamers. HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Comfort

If we start with the ear cushions, they’re the exact same as we are seeing on the cloud II wired and the alphas. They are soft, nice, and plush. Ear cushions sink into any ears because of plenty of big sizes. So, they’re in plenty of good shapes that are going to differ from ear to ear. As far as the depth at the bottom of the driver, it is a soft foam. In case your ears are touching there it’s not going to get pinched or start hurting after a while. They are completely leather, so it is very comfortable. The headband is also very nice and plush with pleather lined up.

When we come to the adjustability on the HyperX Cloud II wireless it moves right on the metal hooks in the headband. It holds position very nicely per adjustment and it’s not sliding around on the head. Ear cups go in and out plenty good, but unfortunately, there is no swivel. So, we got a little bit of amount of adjustment with ear cups. This gaming headset is very lightweight for a wireless headset. So, we can use wear this headset for a very long time without an issue.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Build Quality

The ear cups connect with y-shaped forks and the ends of the forks are in plastic brackets. Because the plastic brackets will give more durability to the headset when we put them on a table or someway. It is a great feature to improve from the wired version to the wireless version. These forks and the ear cushions are kind of kicked just a little bit back towards the top to just make the headset fit any head shape size a little bit better again which alleviates some of that pressure.

If we take a closer look at the ear cups, we can see a very big difference in the wireless headset. It comes with fully matte as far as the logo and the entire ear cup. Looking at the wired version you have that soft matte finish and then that glossy logo area that fingerprint magnet on the wired version. The wireless version doesn’t pick up anything like fingerprints. So, it is nice to touch. There is a fully extended wire that goes from the ear cup to the headband, and it is pretty tight.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Controls

On the left ear cup, we have the power button with an indicator light up. The power button also whenever the headset is on press it once and it’ll activate the 7.1 sound and press it again and it’ll deactivate. Then we have the microphone mute and microphone active buttons which get a tone in the headset. It also lights up on the front of the microphone. If we hold the mute button, it’ll activate the sidetone, and hold it down again it’ll turn it off.

Next, we have USB-C charging port and the microphone port right on the front. On the right ear cup, we have a volume wheel that can increase up and or decrease down and continuously roll. But in the headset when we max it out to the top, we get a high pitch sound. When you max it out to the bottom, we are going to get a low-pitch sound to let you know you are maxed or completely decreased.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Connectivity

As far as using the headset wirelessly we do have our wireless dongle in the box. This headset does work on Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and pc. We get 30 hours of battery life with it in a 65-foot range. When we are pairing the HyperX Cloud II wireless, we can instantly pair. This means when we can take the dongle right out of pc and connect to the Mac or just connect it to the PlayStation or into the switch, it will pair instantly, and it works fine.

We don’t have to press any buttons and sync it up. We only have to just take the dongle out and connect it to whatever device we want to use the headset. It will activate and syncs up instantly.

when it comes to the range of the gaming headset, you can walk anywhere in your house with the 2.4 gigahertz wireless connection. It will deliver a signal within shut doors without interruptions. Even if other wireless devices are running there will no interruptions, no static, no crackling, no braking, or anything. It delivers solid audio no matter where we are.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Sound Quality

HyperX Cloud II wireless gaming headset is definitely one of the biggest surprises with the sound quality. The sound is almost identical to the wired version and that’s really awesome. You know when wireless versus a wired headset we’re usually going to get better audio out of from wired headset. But In HyperX Cloud II wireless deliver great audio same as the wired version.

This headset has 53-millimeter drivers and then also a little bit of extra frequency range with 15 being that low end up to the 20k versus more of like a standard we see 20 to 20k a lot on these gaming headsets.

We get crispy highs, and nice mids right in the middle, even the base isn’t ear-shaking by any means but it’s a crispy base from this headset. When we are playing games with this gaming headset, we can easily pick up the environment and footsteps with very detailed as far as competitive play like a real company. We can hear footsteps no matter where they were coming from. The sound of weapons also is just so realistic. Because we had that punch and the high tone of the reloads and the firing of the weapons and everything feels amazing.

The bass and the highs and everything worked perfectly. Because nothing was overtaking anything. It was really great. That goes right along with music in any genre. It was fantastic it was loud and detailed; nothing was drowning another. Listening to heavier music with these gaming headphones is going to be a whole lot better like metal, rap, old classics, and rock that stuff is going to sound absolutely amazing.

A lot of gaming headsets in the market have 7.1 surround sound on gaming headsets that have a huge gap with normal sound quality. It’s always fake and they like to drop all the lows and bring out the highs and kind of drown the mids in there. It sounds distant.

The 7.1 on this HyperX Cloud II wireless we couldn’t tell when it was active or not. Because the 7.1 is nice. what it did is just brought out a pinch of detail and brought out those highs just a little bit, but it didn’t mess with the base. It still had that immersion as well. The pinch of the environment and the highs right there are actually pretty nice. So it will be a game-changing advantage.

If you want to focus on a little more detail, it will do a great job. It is a very mild adjustment rather than a huge gap between the headset sound stage and completely changes it. That’s not what we are getting right here which is pretty nice.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Battery Life

The battery life is never an issue for longer gaming sessions with 30 hours of battery life. There is a little LED indicator on the back of the left ear cup and that’ll kind of act like a battery status. Because when it’s from,

  • 100 to 90 percent – Green.
  • 90 to 15 percent – Flash Green.
  • below 15 percent of the battery, that little LED light will turn Red

We can use HyperX Cloud II wireless gaming headset while they’re charging with the included USBC cable. But unfortunately, that cable is 18 inches and it isn’t going to be optimal for that. So, it’s good you can still use them while you’re charging but we have to get a longer cable than included USBC cable.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Microphone

hyperx.com

The microphone of HyperX Cloud II wireless is detachable and very moldable, so it’ll adjust in any position we want and stay solid. We also get the included detachable windscreen as well. The really cool thing about this microphone is as I mentioned above whenever we mute the microphone, we get that little red light up to let us know it is muted.

HyperX Cloud II Wireless: Ngenuity Software

Let’s talk about the Ngenuity software. It is quite simple basic and to the point. First of all, we have a volume slider. When we press the button on the power button on the headset and it will change that 7.1 is active. Then we have a microphone volume slider.

Then we can hold down that microphone button and it’ll activate mic monitoring with a beep sound to let you know it’s active. With the mic monitoring feature, we can hear ourselves while wearing the headset. there’s no need to adjust that microphone to hear our own voice. It’s perfect and not too loud and also not too quiet as well.
